Jyotish Trumps Ayurveda

While in Kerala last year I met a fascinating man who has been studying Jyotish (Vedic astrology) for the past 25 years. He is also familiar with Ayurveda  I mentioned the position of a couple of the planets in my chart. A minute or so later, he listed the main health issues I’ve had in my life! This is how Jyotish Trumps Ayurveda.

What?

But how is that even possible?!

But it reminded me – on my previous visit to Kerala I visited the Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda Museum near Thrissur.  Our brilliant guide explained that, according to Ayurveda, if you have a disease, you need to consult two people even before going to the doctor.  The first person is a Jyotishi, or Vedic astrologer.  The reason is that the Jyotishi can calculate which influences will be affecting your health at any time.

Some years ago I was in India on the ‘Pioneers of Perfect Health’ course.  I was ill for most of it!  The irony…

It was a course on Ayurveda and Jyotish, led by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.  All the top Ayurvedic physicians and diagnosticians were there: Dr Triguna, Dr Balraj Maharshi and Dr Raju.  I consulted them all and they couldn’t provide a satisfactory diagnosis for my condition, although they recommended many Ayurvedic medicines for me to take to provide support.

I also visited hospitals providing Western medicine in Delhi and was very kindly received and looked after.  Recently I met up with the friend who helped take me round the hospitals and he confirmed I had been in a bad way.

It turned out that – according to Jyotish (Vedic astrology) – I was going through a period of my life that was particularly challenging for health.  So in fact I was very fortunate to have been in that environment during that difficult time.

Maharishi then told us that Jyotish is primary when it comes to diagnosis.  Hence the title ‘Jyotish Trumps Ayurveda’ – it’s a description I used long before I’d heard of Donald!

Do we even want to know about the future?

In the past I was quite sniffy about astrology.  It wasn’t so much the idea of a correlation between the arrangement of planets at your birth time and location and your personality, strengths and challenges, as well as good fortune throughout your life.  I don’t really have a problem with that.  After all, if a pebble rolls down a mountain, its rolling, falling and collisions are all subject to the laws of physics and mathematics, so I have no issue with that.

It was more that once you know about the positive and the negative, what do you do about it?  I didn’t really want to know about negative events that might occur in the future if I have no control over them.  It would just be a worry.

And this is where the second person that you need to consult comes in.  It’s a Vedic specialist providing yagyas.  Yagyas are traditional Vedic performances that can reduce or eliminate the negative influence of a particular planet – ‘avert the danger before it arises’ (heyam dukham anagatam).  In other words, there is in fact a technology to do something about potentially unfortunate events that are predicted by the Jyotishi.

This is the game-changer.

With this knowledge it’s worth finding out about possible road blocks or avalanches in the future, because you can reduce their impact / or take a different route.

These days, who drives to an unknown location without GPS?

Why would you?

Especially as the GPS can alert you to problems ahead and offer you options to avoid them.  That’s how I feel about the knowledge of Jyotish and Yagyas.  They provide a kind of GPS for life.

So if you have a disease, don’t forget about these two important steps. Once the root cause of the problem has been diagnosed with Jyotish, and then mitigated or even eliminated with Yagyas, Sukshma Marma Therapy will provide profound rest in which the body can naturally heal and will work even better (together with all the other approaches of Ayurveda) to return you to optimum health.
